An Easy Apple Crisp Recipe

Gone are the days of flip flops, oppressive heat and trips to the pool. The refreshing cool breezes of fall are here! A child at heart, I still love to see the changing leaves, scarecrows and pumpkins decorating lawns and yards, and wearing warm cozy sweaters. Its apple season and there are many recipes that stimulate the senses and satisfy the pallet. Apple crisp is one dessert that is perfect for a cool autumn night!

The scent of warm apples and cinnamon cooking in the oven is sure to put you in a fall frame of mind. This apple crisp recipe is easy to prepare and is sure to satisfy!

Ingredients for the apple crisp filling include:
4-5 cups of Macintosh apples sliced really thin
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
3 Tablespoons of sugar
3 Tablespoons of flour

The crispy part of the apple crisp includes these ingredients:
1 cup of of all purpose flour
1 cup of oats (quick cooking is fine)
1 cup of cold butter
1 cup of brown sugar

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
To create the filling, take the slices of apples and put them in a 9×12 baking pan. Then, in a separate bowl, combine the 3 tablespoons of flour, the 3 tablespoons of sugar and the half teaspoon of cinnamon. Pour the mixture over the apples and mix until the apples are evenly covered.

For the crispy part of the apple crisp, take a large bowl and mix the oats, flour and brown sugar. Then take the 1 cup of butter and slice it into the bowl over the flour, oats and brown sugar. Spread all of this over the apples.

Put the pan in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes. When the top of the apple crisp is done it will be golden brown. Let cool and serve with some vanilla ice cream.
